Draft Law of Ukraine

"On Amendment of the Law of Ukraine "On Television and Radio Broadcasting".

The draft suggests determining that the air time allocated for advertising, the procedure for placing advertising on television and radio, as well as production and distribution of advertising are to be performed on the basis of the Law of Ukraine "On Advertising".

Also, the draft suggests prohibiting interruptions in broadcasting of speeches of the Head of the Supreme Court, as well as broadcasting of religious services, programs and broadcasts for children and news program and broadcasts with advertising.

Apart from that, the draft law suggests determining conditions for sponsors participating in creation of television and radio programs. Particularly, the draft indicates that sponsors in creating television and radio programs can not be entities:

• producing or distributing goods, advertising of which is prohibited;
• producing or distributing goods, production and/or circulation of which is prohibited.

At the same time, the draft indicates that it is prohibited to sponsor news programs and broadcasts.

The amendments aim at bringing norms of the Law of Ukraine "On Television and Radio Broadcasting" to conformity with norms of the Law of Ukraine "On Advertising".
